Serhii Hryhorovych Tkachuk – the Head of the Department of Bridges and Tunnels, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, “Excellence in Education of Ukraine” award, Merited Road Builder of Ukraine. He is the author of more than 95 academic, educational-methodical papers, ten monographs and textbooks, which include 2 fundamental monographs, 2 educational manuals, “Hydraulics, Hydrology, Hydrometry” textbook with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine stamp, 2 author’s certificates.

 

The Department was established in Kyiv Automobile and Highway Institute (now National Transport University) in 1944. The Department staff consists of 15 regular lecturers, including 4 professors, 8 associate professors, 1 senior lecturer and 1 assistant lecturer.

  • issues of transport facilities reconstruction and durability improvement;
  • open-channel hydraulics and long-term forecasting of channel deformations;
  • issues of unsteady open channel flow;
  • theoretical bases of environment interaction with piezoelectric transducers;
  • interaction of single-vault subway station constructions with rock mass;
  • issues of transport facilities reliability, safety and durability;
  • long-term processes in concrete, reconstruction and maintenance of reinforced-concrete and steel-concrete composite bridges.
