Olexandr Ivanovych Melnychenko – the Head of the Department, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Transport Academy of Ukraine, “Excellence in Education of Ukraine” award, “For Research and Academic Achievements” award.
The department of Manufacturing, Repair and Materials Engineering (until 2000 − the Department of Repair Production and Materials Science − RPMS) was established in 1982 after the association of two departments: The Department of Materials Science (original title – the Department of Technology of Metals) and the Department of Motorcar Service and Road Machinery Manufacturing (MSRMM). These basic departments were established at the time of the establishment of the Kyiv Automobile and Road Institute. In 1952-1980 MSRMM Department was headed by Associate Professor (since 1970 – Professor) Mykola Illich Ivashchenko, from 1980 to 1982 – Associate Professor Olexandr Dmytrovych Revenko, who headed the associated department in 1982. At the time of the of the departments association, the Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Yurii Heorhiiovych Bobro headed the Department of Materials Science. From 1984 to January 2003, the department was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Honoured Science Worker of Ukraine, Laureate of State Prize of Ukraine Vadym Yevhenovych Kanarchuk. From February to August 2003, Professor Eduard Karpovych Posviatenko was the head of the department. From September 2003 to April 2015, the MRME Department was headed by Professor Mykola Fedorovych Dmytrychenko. From April 2015 to July 2017, Professor Oleksandr Petrovych Levkivskyi was the head of the department. From July till October 2017, Professor Mykhailo Frantsevych Kovalov was the head of the MRME department. From November 2017 Professor Olexandr Ivanovych Melnychenko was the head of the department.
The department has 30 staff members, among them are 28 lecturers, including 8 professors, four of them are Doctors of Technical Sciences; 8 Associate Professors, seven of them are Candidates of Technical Sciences; 5 senior lecturers; 7 assistant lecturers. 2 professors − Honored Workers of Science and Technology of Ukraine; 2 lecturers are Laureates of the State Prize of Ukraine; 5 awarded “Excellence in Education of Ukraine” breastplate.

- improvement of tribotechnical characteristics of parts meeting surfaces in certain oil environment;
